Cocos (Keeling) Islands (Australia)

The islands are an Australian External Territory.  Similarly, the culture has been influenced largely by Austrailian culture. English is the primary language. Secondary cultural and language customs are influenced by the Cocos Malay population. Also, they have strong family ties but are being slowly influenced by the more individualistic Australian culture. The tourist business and agricultural and fishing industries are booming on the island. Islam is the biggest religion on the islands, with other worldviews including Christianity and those that consider themselves “non-religious.”
