Sint Eustatiusius(Netherlands)

St.Eustatius also known as Statia is part of the Caribbean Netherlands. The official language is Dutch, but English is the “language of everyday life” on the island and education is solely in English. An English based creole is also spoken. Tourism is a big part of the economy , but trade also flourishes in a host of other area.
St. Eustatius is culturally a mix of European and Carribbean influences, and is a family oriented society. Also, rank and connections are important, though the culture is more relaxed than some. It’s important to recognize the history of the territory, and the transient nature of many of its inhabitants when considering how to relate well with the culture.
